“The sense of community is the most essential element in building a better world.”

For this exhibition ‘Flock’, Gallery North invited submissions of artwork that explores the spirit of togetherness, of community and collaboration.  The artist’s response to this could either be through the way that the work is created or made, or as the central theme, response or concept behind the piece of work. It could also be made by a collective, group or partnership e.g. a group of artists, by a parent artist and child, with groups of friends, siblings, community groups and so on.  Alternatively the artwork could be created over time during the exhibition, by inviting visitors to come into the gallery and contribute towards the making of the artwork. All interpretations of this theme have been welcomed and we are delighted by the diversity and ingenuity of the artwork on display.

This exhibition asks – In a world full of chaos and unease, can we as individuals find solace in coming together as one, and use collaboration and community as a force for good?
